Why would we still write by hand? We have our screens. They don’t ask for handwriting; they ask for typing. The only benefit of typing over handwriting is speed. That gain, however, can also be a loss. What do we lose if we type?

We lose speed, which actually is a good thing. Research shows we process information much better if we pick up a pen. How come? Suppose you have to write notes during a presentation. Doing that by hand, we listen, analyze and summarise whatever is said, simply because we cannot write by hand as fast as if we can type. Losing speed is a huge gain that actually will save you time!

But what if others can’t read your handwriting? Or worse: what if you can’t read it yourself?
